Former Prime Minister of Thailand Thaksin Shinawatra
Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was arrested on his return home after ending 15 years of self-imposed exile. After his arrest, Thaks Shanavatra was produced in the Supreme Court where the court sentenced him to 8 years imprisonment. Thaksin was transferred to a Bangkok jail after the Supreme Court’s conviction.
According to British media, the former prime minister of Thailand will now be eligible to apply for a pardon after being transferred to prison and may receive special treatment because of his age.

The former Thai prime minister went into exile in 2008, and was welcomed at the airport by party workers including his two daughters and son on his return home.
