Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was arrested on his return home after ending 15 years of self-imposed exile. After his arrest, Thaks Shanavatra was produced in the Supreme Court where the court sentenced him to 8 years imprisonment. Thaksin was transferred to a Bangkok jail after the Supreme Court’s conviction.

According to British media, the former prime minister of Thailand will now be eligible to apply for a pardon after being transferred to prison and may receive special treatment because of his age.
